AGD Equipment supply cranes and rigs for M25 Piling Contract

CMP/Barker JV choose AGD Rental for M25 widening contract

Sheet piling sub-contractors Commercial Marine & Piling/Kim Barker Construction Joint Venture were recently awarded a contract by Balfour Beatty/Skanska to install sheet piled walls on the M25 widening scheme in Hertfordshire.

AGD Rental were chosen to supply all of the telescopic crawler cranes for the contract plus some telescopic leader piling rigs to bolster CMP/Barkers fleets where necessary.

At the height of the programme AGD have supplied a total of 8 units IHI telescopic crawler cranes and 2 units RTG telescopic leader piling rigs. The contract started in 2009 and is ongoing with regular visits varying from 2 to 10 machines and will extend well into 2011.

Mini Crane supplied to work on vessel in Caribbean

An IHI CCH50T mini crane was recently supplied to Whittaker Engineering from Aberdeen, Scotland for working on a support vessel moored off Curacao in the Caribbean.

The mini crane was lifted into place onto the vessel from where it was used to extend the existing helideck lifting and placing panels as required.

It was chosen for it's lift and carry ability together with it's low ground bearing pressures. Since finishing the project it is now off to Mexico to work on a similar scheme.

Nationwide demolition specialist Coleman & Co from Birmingham recently hired a 120 tons IHI CCH1200 crawler crane with tower boom and luffing jib attachment to dismantle a city centre tower block in Wolverhampton, West Midlands.

Pictured here with the maximum tower and jib configuration of 51.25 m tower and 44 m luffing jib the impressive set-up was utilised to handle concrete panels 4-6 tons in weight at up to 32 m radius.

Fambo excavator mounted piling attachments sold to Steel Pile Installations

Nationwide piling contractor Steel Pile Installations recently took delivery of a new excavator mounted Fambo HR2750 piling hammer complete with PR1100 leader. The equipment was fitted onto one of SPI's New Holland E385 hydraulic excavators.

Pictured here back driving sheet piles interlocked with tubular piles for a combi wall the hammer has a ram weight of 2750 kgs with 28500 nM of energy and a stroke of 1.2 m. Fambo's specially designed lead filled hammer bodies are extremely efficient as the "dwell" time of the piston on the anvil is greater compared to steel resulting in a greater level of energy transfer to the pile.

Fambo hammers are suitable for driving pre cast concrete, steel tubular, H section, timber and sheet piles and are available with ram weights from 500 to 10000 kgs.

IHI CCH300T telescopic crawler crane supplied to Kaymac Marine on barge at Conwy

Swansea based Kaymac Marine & Civil Engineering recently placed an order with us to supply a 30 tons capacity IHI CCH300T telescopic crawler crane to work on a barge in the river at Conwy in North Wales.

The crawler crane was used to dismantle units from the railway tunnel and access from the water was the only option. The telesopic crawler crane was perfect for the application as once the work was done the operator was able to retract his boom and the barge could be tugged under the bridge, whereas a traditional lattice boom crawler crane would have required de-rigging.
